July 20 is the Last Day to Register to Vote or Change Party Affiliation

Supervisor Chris H. Chambless reminds Clay County voters that July 20 is the deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation for the August 18 Primary Election. Though all voters will have a ballot, Florida is a Closed Primary state and voters may only vote for candidates of their own party:

  • Democrats may only vote for Democratic candidates and in non-partisan contests.
  • Republicans may only vote for Republican candidates and in non-partisan contests.
  • Voters registered with a minor party, or with No Party Affiliation (NPA), may only vote in non-partisan contests.

Itโ€™s easy to register to vote or update voter information online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov. Paper registration applications are available at all public libraries, the Tax Collectorโ€™s office, and the Clay County Supervisor of Elections Office. The Elections Office is located at 500 N. Orange Ave., in Green Cove Springs. Itโ€™s open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Paper applications must be postmarked or delivered to the Elections Office by July 20. Due to new procedures in the U.S. Postal Services (USPS) operations, itโ€™s recommended that voters visit a Postal Services retail location and request a manual postmark at the counter.
