Time’s Running Out to Register to Vote or Change Your Party for the Primary

Chris H. Chambless, Clay County Supervisor of Elections, reminds voters the deadline to register to vote for the Primary Election is Monday, July 22. This is also last day to change your party affiliation. Though all voters will have a ballot, since Florida is a Closed Primary state, voters will be limited to choosing candidates of their own party:

• Democrats may only vote for Democratic candidates.
• Republicans may only vote for Republican candidates.
• Voters registered with a minor party, or with No Party Affiliation (NPA), may only vote in non-partisan contests.

It’s easier than ever to register to vote, or change your party, online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov. Paper registration applications are available at public libraries and the Elections Office in Green Cove Springs. Paper applications must be signed and postmarked by July 22 to be valid for the Primary Election on Tuesday, August 20.
